I purchased my Cineroid a couple of months ago from Abel Cine Tech, but have not had the chance to use it with Sony F3. I finally got the mounting hardward and rigged the EVF to the camera today and while testing the whole system, I started smelling something burning. I shut everything down and realized it was the Cineroid. I was running the EVF off the D-tap Abel sent me to power the unit, but the viewfinder seemed to have some screwy signal for the first five minutes then it cleared up. At some point after that I could smell the burn.
I removed the D-tap power and went for the battery that came with it. The Cineroid still worked, but it seemed to still have the burn smell. I have a commercial that I'm shooting over the next two days and unfortunately will be trying this again while on location. If it melts it melts. I have no choice.
Just a note..... This all happened while inside in a controlled temperture environment. Not outside in the heat.
Has anyone experienced this overheating with the Cineroid? Could it be a bad circuit board? Any suggestions would be helpful.
